Top 10 for Visiting Cape Cod

When vacationing on Cape Cod, there are several things to watch for to ensure you have a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Here are some key considerations:

  1. Weather: Keep an eye on the weather forecast before and during your trip. Cape Cod can experience unpredictable weather patterns, so be prepared for changes and pack appropriate clothing for various conditions.
  2. Traffic: Cape Cod is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months. Traffic congestion can occur on the bridges connecting the Cape to the mainland and along major routes. Plan your travel accordingly and try to avoid peak travel times if possible.
  3. Beach Conditions: Cape Cod is known for its beautiful beaches, but it’s important to be aware of the beach conditions. Pay attention to any beach advisories or warnings regarding water quality, currents, or marine life. Observe posted signs and follow lifeguards’ instructions for your safety.
  4. Wildlife: Cape Cod is home to a variety of wildlife, including seals and sharks. While shark incidents are rare, it’s advisable to stay informed about any recent sightings or beach closures due to shark activity. Keep a safe distance from seals and other wildlife to avoid disturbing them.
  5. Sun Protection: The Cape Cod region has plenty of sunshine, so protect yourself from harmful UV rays. Wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day. Remember to stay hydrated as well.
  6. Mosquitoes and Ticks: Like many other coastal areas, Cape Cod has mosquitoes and ticks. Use insect repellent and wear long sleeves and pants, especially when exploring wooded or grassy areas. Check yourself for ticks after spending time outdoors and follow proper tick removal techniques if necessary.
  7. Recreation Permits: If you plan on engaging in activities such as fishing, off-road driving, or camping, check if any permits or licenses are required. Familiarize yourself with local regulations and obtain the necessary permissions beforehand.
  8. Local Regulations: Be aware of local rules and regulations, including parking restrictions, beach access, and any specific town ordinances. Respect the environment and follow guidelines for waste disposal and recycling.
  9. Restaurant Reservations: Cape Cod has numerous excellent dining options, particularly during peak tourist season. Make restaurant reservations in advance to secure your preferred dining choices, especially for popular waterfront locations.
  10. Local Events and Festivals: Cape Cod hosts various events and festivals throughout the year. Check local event listings to see if there are any activities or attractions that align with your interests during your visit.

Remember to do your research, plan ahead, and stay informed to make the most of your vacation on Cape Cod. Enjoy the scenic beauty, coastal charm, and leisurely atmosphere that the Cape has to offer.

2014 Cape Cod November Events

November.

The eleventh month of the year, even though the name “Novem” in Latin means nine. It is the month of celebration, of thankfulness, of mindfulness. November is also Sweet Potato Awareness month.  For the cooler nights you might want to try  Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup for something different. We’ve had a really mild fall this year, with lovely warm days and cool nights. Soon enough the trend will change to winter. But not just yet.

Now is the time of the swish of drying leaves as the breeze stirs them to rustling, those that still cling to the trees that is. A light jacket is all you need when walking along the sun soaked bike paths. A rare sound of a lawn mower hangs in the distance, perhaps a leaf blower as well. Smiles are held with ease as you pass another, the sun still calls… beckoning your presence. A last hurrah before the cooler days come.

Check out this year’s November Events : Cape Cod November Events. We’ll see you there.

To Spring or Not to Spring (Clean)

springbanner

To Spring or Not to Spring, that is the question.

The Ides of March have passed, taking along with it the chill of winter’s touch.  The sun’s shining, the birds are signing, even the crickets are chirping in the early evenings now. It’s about time that Spring finally came, it seems that it took forever to get here. As we begin to open our homes to the warmer air draw back the heavy curtains to let in the light the dust from the long and brutal winter stir, sparkling in the rays of sunlight. Wait, dust?! Company’s coming to the Cape! Alas it’s time again, the time of the Spring Cleaning. Not sure where to start? Here’s a Spring Check List that you can use to help with that. Click Here to Download.

Happy Spring Cape Cod!
